NorCordia wins Danish warmblood and Happy Horse Award

The Danish warmblood hosts an annual championships for 5-year-olds every year during licensing in Herning. Participation is restricted to registered and DWB-bred horses.

Three rounds make up the Championship. Two rounds in which the horses and their riders are presented in pairs. The top 24 horses scoring the highest after two rounds of testing were test ridden by a guest judge rider. This was spread over two days. Daniel Bachmann Andersen, Danish Grand Prix team rider, was the guest judge rider.

Allan Gron, Sobakkehus Maude (by Hesselhoj Donkey Boy x Wilkens), persevered and won the championship beating Ghandi SS, the overnight leader from the first two rounds, in the final with test rider.

Round 1 saw the pair finish second with 9.5 for walk, 8.5 for trot, 8 for canter,8.5 for rideability, and 9.0 for potential.

They were again second in round 2, with identical marks. The finals were held with Bachmann as a test rider. The dark bay mare scored 10 points for rideability, and 9.5 points for potential.

She won the overall leader board and beat Ghandi SS to the title, because Søbakkehus Maude were best in rideability.

Bachmann said that Maude is “very nice to walk and canter.”

I was surprised at how powerful she was, and how easy it was to collect her. She is a positive horse and she is happy and well-mannered.

Allan did a great job as Maude is extremely well-educated.

She responds well to the aids and moves easily through the body and is easy to collect and extend, just like I think a 5-year-old should be: fresh, fit and super in the contact.

It’s clearly the best horse I’ve ridden today.”
