Meet Annabelle Rehn, a friend of NorCordia and a 15-year-old Danish Equestrian and Entrepreneur.
Annabelle Rehn is a rising star in the equestrian world.
The 15-year-old Danish rider already has an impressive résumé both in and out of the arena. She has earned titles such as the Global Youth Champion at the 2019 World Dressage Challenge and is also a driven advocate and the founder of Splashband, a wearable device meant to reduce drowning deaths in children.
Annabelle is currently competing on the Danish National Juniors Dressage team with her stallion, Verstervangs Garson.
Rehn is making waves as an athlete, entrepreneur, and philanthropist. She is an inspiring young rider with big goals and loads of talent.
About The Rider
Annabelle Rehn was born in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, and then later moved to Singapore.
She comes from a family of equestrians and started riding at only 18 months old.
Annabelle started competing at three years old and began riding professionally at the age of 7. She fell in love with horses from the start and developed goals to attend the Olympics like her idols. Rehn is still working towards competing in the Olympics in the future.
Rehn typically trains in both Singapore and Denmark, alternating between the two locations. She is very disciplined when it comes to training; she rides six times a week and runs five kilometers (three miles) almost every day.
Her focus is always on her horses’ wellbeing. She gives them a day to rest and works them in the early mornings when it is cool out.
Annabelle gracefully manages to balance her strict training schedule and coursework for school, which requires a lot of determination.
During the pandemic, the stable she rode at in Singapore was forced to close to the public.
Rehn then decided to train in Denmark full-time with Anne-Marie Hosbond and Kenneth Damgaard of HosDam Dressage so she didn’t lose any valuable riding time.
Annabelle Rehn had to leave her home for seven months to be able to train, all the while juggling her classes in Singapore remotely.
This is a true example of Annabelle Rehn’s commitment to the sport. She is now back to commuting between Singapore and Denmark for training.
Annabelle competes on Denmark’s National Juniors Dressage team. At a young age, she is already a highly accomplished rider.
One of her top achievements was earning the title of Global Youth Champion at the World Dressage Challenge in 2019.
She also recently competed at the European Championships for Young Riders, Juniors, and Children in Spain, taking home a bronze team medal and a 7th place individual finish. Rehn also jumps and competed in the 115cm last year.
Outside of the arena, Rehn is interested in helping others and making an impact in the world. Her research into child drowning deaths led to the creation of the Splashband.
She is the founder of the new product which is meant to help reduce drowning deaths by allowing parents to monitor their children while they swim. This is done via a smartphone app and a wearable, water-resistant band.
Rehn also advocates for the environment, underprivileged women and children, and individuals with disabilities.
Annabelle strives to use her platform for good and has made contributions in Singapore, Indonesia, and India. She volunteers and engages in community service to help. According to her website, Annabelle also participated in the UWCSEA Environmental Stewardship Council in Singapore.
Her accomplishments are an impressive feat for a 15-year-old. Rehn is one of the most determined, hard-working, and passionate young equestrians out there.
As illustrated by her efforts, she is intent on making her mark in the world and inspiring change.
About the Horse
Rehn’s equine partner, Vestervangs Garson, is no less outstanding.
She purchased the 9-year-old Danish Warmblood stallion from Ulrik Clemmensen (NorCordia’s co-owner and founder) who expertly matched them together.
He is sired by De Noir and out of a Ragazzo mare. Garson is based in Denmark at HosDam and Annabelle travels from Singapore to train with him.
Garson was bred by Stald Vestervang and initially owned by Martin Klavsen and Ib Kirk.
Over the years, he has been in training at the top facilities like Katrinelund and Emma Ahlberg Horse Performance.
Before Annabelle, he competed with Cabrina Geip and Emma Ahlberg.
Garson was selected to represent the Danish team in the FEI WBFSH Dressage World Breeding Championships for Young Horses as a seven-year-old.
In 2020 as a new team, Rehn and Garson picked up a bronze medal at the Danish Dressage Junior Championships and a 4th place finish at the Eccocup Finale.
This year, they competed at the CDIOJ Nations Cup and scored 71.8%, earning an individual 5th place and second place overall in the team competition.
As previously mentioned, they also competed at the European Championships and scored over 71.5%, earning bronze in the team competition and 7th place individually. This is only the beginning of this amazing pair.
